If someone is not well in the family or in a relationship, it doesn't only affect the person with the most obvious problems or symptoms, but it affects the life of the whole family, and the harmony of the relationship. During the consultations, our goal is to find a balance and the right solutions that will allow all to be content.

Throughout the sessions, we will create the opportunity for every participant to be able to say what they think and feel. In this process, we strive to ensure that these messages are not only expressed, but that the parties involved will reach mutual understanding and ultimately find common solutions. In our work, we are guided by "Rogers ’person-centered approach" and the systems approach.

Sessions in English will be held by Dora Koranyi and Viktoria Kalman. At the moment we offer online sessions.

Dóra Korányi

I am a certified psychologist and I have done my training in couples and family therapy at the Hungarian Family Therapy Association. I received my Bachelor's degree in IDC Herzliya, Israel, where the language of instruction was English. I volunteered and worked in several fields and countries, which gave me a wide knowledge and deep understanding of the challenges involved in moving countries and encountering different cultures. This gives me the passion and the mission to help those in similar situations.

I received my Master’s degree in Psychology in 2017 at ELTE university of Budapest, majoring in Clinical Psychology. After receiving my degree, I worked for four years as a school and kindergarten psychologist at the Carl Rogers Person-Centered Kindergarten and Elementary School until the birth of my daughter.

As the psychologist of the Carl Rogers School, I had the opportunity to get to know the world of children from preschool to adolescence. My approach to children and to adults equally, is to always try to understand the position of each individual, their feelings and their perspectives. Together we can find the solutions that are best for the individual and for the family or community they belong to. My driving forces are empathy and acceptance and my goal is to create a safe environment in which people have the opportunity to open up, discover themselves, and embark on the path of change.

I completed my family therapy training at the Hungarian Family Therapy Association in 2020. My daily work is supported by the Supervision group of the Association.

Besides individual therapy, both psychodrama and art therapy played an important role in the path of my own personal development and I incorporate some of these techniques in my work as well.

Viktória Kálmán

I graduated from Bárczi Gusztáv Faculty of Special Education at Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest. My qualification is Special Education Teacher specialized in learning and behavioral difficulties. During my studies I started to work at Ferencvárosi Tanoda where I was tutoring underprivileged children after school and helping wherever I could.  I also had the opportunity to spend a year in the Netherlands as an intern at a school. This was the first time I really met ‘systemic therapy’; which is the base of couple and family therapy. In this method the focus is not only on the individual, it also takes into account the person’s relationships, deals with the interactions of groups and interactional patterns and dynamics.

After I graduated, I worked as a special needs teacher at a school for children with special needs. I had to work closely with the parents in order to help the children in the most effective way. It became clear to me that if one family member has a problem, it affects the whole family. I also had the chance to learn how to see the world through the eyes of these children, which helps me to put myself in others’ shoes.

I did my training at the Hungarian Family Therapy Association 2018 and since then I have been working as a couple and family therapist. Besides my academic training, all human interactions teach me something and the observations and experiences I gain broaden my horizon both as a professional and as an individual.
